Over 65 Years of Engineering Excellence
Founded over six decades ago in the UK, Thermaglow has grown into the UK’s trusted partner for bespoke heating elements, trusted by industry, proven in performance and built to last.Â
1957
Founded in Winterton On Sea as a family owned business.
1961
Tubular heating element manufacture commenced. First customer was Haden Kettles.
1968
Kettles and small electricals now a major market. Tim Dodd joins as Buyer and Technical Engineer.
1976
New markets for Mica elements, Hot Air Gun/Paint Strippers and heated hair rollers
1983/84
Mr Anthony H H Behm (Founder) passed away. Tim Dodd appointed MD.
1984
Haden family become majority shareholders.
1991
First UK element manufacturer to gain BS5750 Quality Standard.
1992
New market, Electric Shower Elements.
1995
Additional units acquired in Great Yarmouth. New Production and Wiring assemblies introduced
1997
Further industrial units acquired in Great Yarmouth to support growth.
1999
Expansion of Shower Element customer base.
2002
Shower elements continued to grow in volume, sales to Industrial and Commercial customers expand.
2006
Tim & Paula Dodd acquire the majority shareholding from Haden family. All production moved to current premises.
2009
Sales team expanded, James Babb joined to further develop sales and new markets.
2017
Celebrated 60 years of business.
2018
Achieved ISO9001-2015 standards.
2019
James Babb appointed as Director.
2022/23
Additional premises in Great Yarmouth acquired + acquisition of Lojer.
2024
Acquisition of specialist element manufacturer Hassett – expanding our offering further.
2025
Matt Howchin appointed Operations Director.
2026
James Babb appointed Managing Director.

Paula Dodd
Chairman
With over 25 years experience at Thermaglow, I have been involved in the development of the company to date and look forward to its continued growth and move into new markets and technologies.Â
James Babb
Managing Director
I joined the company back in September 2010, and ever since, I’ve been driven by a genuine passion for UK manufacturing. I love working closely with our customers to understand what they need and making sure we deliver quality products on time.
For me, it’s all about building strong relationships, solving problems together, and keeping our supply chain service the best it can be.
Matt Howchin
Operations Director
With over 40 years of experience in UK design and manufacturing, I bring deep industry knowledge and a proven track record of driving operational excellence. Since joining Thermaglow in March 2023, I have been committed to delivering tailored solutions that precisely meet customer requirements.
My passion lies in building strong teams and partnerships, fostering innovation, and driving continuous improvement by addressing the root causes of inefficiencies ensuring competitiveness in today’s demanding marketplace.

With 9 years of experience within Thermaglow, I am passionate about help customers find the right solutions for their business. I enjoy building strong, genuine relationships and taking the time to understand our clients needs ensuring they feel supported from first conversation to final delivery. I have been proud to build my career at Thermaglow since 1995, growing alongside the company and contributing to its reputation for reliability and innovation. Over the years I have worked across a range of roles within the company gaining hands on experience with our products and processes. I strive to approach every task with professionalism and customer-first mindset. Meeting and exceeding customer`s expectations is not just part of the role, it’s a personal standard I hold myself to every day, and I am proud to know we help customers feel confident in their choices, ensuring Thermaglow continues to stand out as a trusted leader in the industry
Nick Cable
Procurement Manager
Joined the company in April 2008, I have built my career around UK Manufacturing since I left school in 1984, this being my second job role. My main focus is building strong relationships with our suppliers, providing quality parts, keeping costs down and working the team at Thermaglow to make improvements with our Supply Chain and internally.
Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my family, not forgetting being a season ticket holder at Norwich City.
Gavin Harris
Quality & Engineering Manager
Gav is passionate about building strong engineering teams and creating quality systems that empower people to do their best work. As an Engineering and Quality Manager, he brings a collaborative leadership style rooted in mentorship, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Dedicated to delivering reliable products and exceptional customer satisfaction, Gav uses data-driven decision-making and a hands-on approach to meet the requirements of all stakeholders.

Production Manager
Terry has 35 years of experience in manufacturing. Known for a strong commitment to delivering high-quality products on time and meeting customer requirements. Skilled in optimizing processes, leading teams, and ensuring efficiency across all stages of production. Passionate about maintaining excellence and reliability in every project.
Sarah Hartridge
HR and Health & Safety Manager
Joining Thermaglow in June 2024, I’ve been able to bring together my passion for supporting people with my commitment to building a safe, positive and well-run workplace. With over two decades in HR and expertise in Health & Safety, I enjoy working closely with colleagues across the business to make sure everyone feels supported, informed and able to do their best work.
I’m driven by continuous improvement and love finding practical solutions that make a real difference, whether that’s strengthening our processes, improving communication, or helping managers feel more confident in their roles. For me, it’s all about creating a workplace where people are looked after, valued and able to succeed
Luke Jeffryes
Master Scheduler
An opportunity presented itself to join Thermaglow as their Master Scheduler in November 2024, and I took it with both hands. A company that is on a journey to build upon it’s already established reputation is one that I am very keen to be a part of. It has allowed me to apply my Level 5 Supply Chain qualification practically to support Thermaglow’s continuous improvement in its lean manufacturing implementation. Providing structure and stability to our production environment is where I thrive, and championing that cultural change keeps me fully engaged with my work. This development, alongside a collaborative team, is what helps us remain at the forefront of our industry in UK manufacturing.
