About the Role:
Working as part of the warehouse team the Warehouse Operative will play a key role in ensuring efficient handling, storage, and transport of materials within the company. The role encompasses all aspects of managing stock, handling goods in/out to support the production functions. A focus on accuracy, organisation, and compliance is crucial.
Duties include:
- Receive, inspect, and verify deliveries against paperwork (engineering drawings, material certification, and purchase orders etc. as required).
- Report any discrepancies or damages
- Allocate Goods Received Note (GRN) numbers and store products in the correct locations following FIFO principles ensuring good stock rotation.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Assist with dispatch by packing completed products according to specifications.
- Assist with preparing goods for shipping, packing, wrapping and labelling pallets in line with relevant packaging procedures.
- Ensure accurate and timely dispatch of materials and finished products.
- Maintain stock accuracy in line with the Sage system, ensuring physical quantities match system records.
- Assist in regular stock audits
- Issue materials to production areas using the formal requisition process.
- Ensure proper housekeeping in all warehouse areas, keeping them organised and clean and in line with company H&S policies.
- Set up and operate the tube cutting machine, ensuring tubes are cut to the required specifications and in the correct order of priority (Training provided).
- Support the development and improvement of processes and procedures within the warehouse.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a production/manufacturing environment, preferably in a warehouse or stores role and knowledge of goods in/out procedures and stock control.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- IT proficiency, ideally in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Sage.
- Forklift license (preferred but not essential; training can be provided).
- Valid UK driving license.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
